Frequent questions
Lightning-fast and full-featured — make every survey faster, more accurate, and more profitable by using Surveyaan V1 Pro.
What is a LiDAR drone and how is it different from a regular survey drone?−
A LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) drone uses laser pulses to measure distances and generate highly accurate 3D point clouds of the surveyed area. Unlike standard photogrammetry drones that rely on camera images, LiDAR works effectively in low-light conditions, penetrates dense vegetation to capture ground elevation beneath the canopy, and delivers higher vertical accuracy. The Surveyaan V1 Pro combines both LiDAR and a 26 MP RGB camera — giving you point clouds and orthomosaic imagery from a single flight.
What outputs does the Surveyaan V1 Pro LiDAR system generate?+
The Surveyaan V1 Pro generates four key survey deliverables using its dedicated desktop point cloud processing software: dense Point Cloud (.LAZ / .LAS format), Digital Surface Model (DSM) in GeoTIFF, Digital Terrain Model (DTM) in GeoTIFF, high-resolution Orthomosaic in GeoTIFF, and textured 3D Models (.OBJ). All processing is done through an automated workflow — from raw LiDAR data to project-ready deliverables in just a few clicks.
What are the advantages of using a LiDAR drone over traditional survey methods?+
LiDAR drones like the Surveyaan V1 Pro offer several critical advantages over traditional ground-based survey methods: better vegetation penetration to capture ground under dense tree cover, higher elevation accuracy for terrain modelling, reliable performance in challenging and low-texture areas, accurate powerline and utility corridor mapping, and consistent results regardless of lighting conditions. Compared to conventional total station or DGPS surveys, LiDAR drone surveys are significantly faster, safer, and more cost-effective for large areas.
Which industries can benefit from the Surveyaan V1 Pro LiDAR drone?+
The Surveyaan V1 Pro is purpose-suited for a wide range of industries and applications: Archaeology (site documentation and terrain mapping), Mining (volumetric calculations and pit surveys), Forestry (canopy height models and biomass estimation), Civil Engineering (corridor surveys, road and railway mapping), Environment (flood modelling, drainage analysis), and Utilities (powerline inspection and asset mapping). If your project demands centimetre-level precision in complex environments, the V1 Pro is the right tool.
Does the Surveyaan V1 Pro come with processing software?+
Yes. The Surveyaan V1 Pro comes with a dedicated Windows-based desktop application for point cloud processing. The software is designed to handle large point clouds with efficiency and accuracy — offering an automated workflow from raw LiDAR data capture to final deliverables including Point Cloud, DSM, DTM, 3D Model, and Orthomosaic. In addition, Surveyaan GeoWorkspace (cloud-based) can be used for photogrammetry outputs from the integrated 26 MP camera data.
